Mexico City has transportation options for every type of trip and every moment of the day. You do not need a car — in fact, leaving it parked is the best decision you can make.
Metro
The Metro network is the backbone of transportation in the city. Fast, affordable and with coverage across practically the entire urban area.
Cost:$5 MXN per trip
How to pay:
with the Integrated Mobility Card — bank cards are not accepted directly at the turnstile. Buy it at any Metro ticket booth for $15 MXN without balance and top it up with the amount you need.
General schedule:
5:00 AM – 00:00 hrs Monday to Friday · 6:00 AM – 00:30 hrs weekends
Most useful lines from ULIV areas:
Line 1 — Pink
Line 2 — Blue
Line 7 — Orange
Line 1 (pink) — crosses the city center from west to east
Line 2 (blue) — connects with Tasqueña and the Light Rail to Estadio Azteca
Line 7 (orange) — covers Polanco and Reforma toward the south
Metrobús
Metrobús runs on exclusive surface lanes — faster than traffic and more comfortable than the Metro during rush hour because it is less crowded.
Cost:$6 MXN per trip
How to pay:
same Integrated Mobility Card as the Metro
Most useful line:
Line 1 on Avenida de los Insurgentes — connects from Ciudad Universitaria in the south to Indios Verdes in the north, passing through Roma, Condesa and Reforma.
Ecobici
The city’s shared bicycle system. One of the best options for moving between nearby neighborhoods — fast, affordable and with hundreds of stations distributed across the central area.
Shared bicycles
Recommended in ULIV areas
Cost:
1-day pass: $115 MXN · 3-day pass: $180 MXN
Each trip of up to 45 minutes is included in the pass. If the ride lasts longer, an additional fee is charged for the extra minutes.
How to use it:
Download the Ecobici app or register at ecobici.cdmx.gob.mx. Choose your pass, pay by card and activate the bike from the app or with the code at the station.
Where the stations are:
There are hundreds of stations in Condesa, Roma Norte, Roma Sur, Polanco and Reforma. If you cannot find one nearby, the app shows the closest one in real time.
Tip: the neighborhoods where ULIV properties are located are ideal for Ecobici — tree-lined streets, bike lanes and short distances between points of interest.
Uber / DiDi / Cabify
All three apps work well in Mexico City. The difference is when and what for.
Uber and DiDi
Equivalent options in price and availability. Choosing one or the other is a matter of preference — having both installed is useful to compare wait times in the moment.
Cabify
Premium option. Professional drivers, higher-category vehicles and fixed price confirmed before getting in — with no demand-based variations. Ideal when you need punctuality or prefer cost certainty.
